Tips to Stand More

It is so easy to sit. Even if you have an Evodesk standing desk at work, once you get home one study states that you may be more likely to sit more. Perhaps your body is thinking, “Wow, good job standing at work today. You earned a break.” So to combat this dark-side desire to sit, here are a few fun ways to stay standing.

The Couch is Lava: Every time you want to sprawl out on the couch, think “the couch is lava” and keep on moving. For the kid at heart, why not play a game of “the floor is lava” (as carefully as possible).

TV Workouts: These are incredibly fun. Just Google any of your favorite shows with “workout” or “workout challenge” and you’ll be surprised how many show up. For example, one of my favorite shows, has a workout where you have to walk in place during the entire show and break it up with burpees, jumping jacks, wall squats, etc whenever a character does one of the things on the list. It’s a great way to enjoy your show without just sitting there being absorbed by the couch. For gaming, here is one of my favorite gaming workout pins. Remember you can search for the specific game you are playing for more Every time I respawn or die I hit the floor. Or if you aren’t gaming or watching TV you can just try out a superhero workout.

Get an Evodesk Standing Desk: For those times you are gaming or working at home at your computer, why not stand while doing it? Depending on what you are doing at your computer, you may not have time to take a break or do a workout. Talk and Walk: Whenever you are talking on the phone, make sure you are standing. That’s it. If you make a pact with your friend, you can both walk and talk for double health points.

TV Workouts for Beginners: If doing a workout during a TV show or game is too intense, start small with commercial workouts. Every time a commercial starts, get up and walk in place. Ta-Da! This way you break up your time sitting whereas before an hour would pass without you getting up (unless you went to forage for a snack).
